Så, nu är det drygt en vecka sedan vi kom tillbaka från Nya Zeeland. Byron Bay har bjudit på soligt och fint väder, men det är kyligt på mornarna och kvällarna. Och inomhus är det kyligt hela dagen. I Sverige värmer vi upp husen när det börjar bli kallt, här tar vi på oss mössa och jacka inomhus. Funkar bra.

So, now it's been just over a week since we came back from New Zealand. Byron Bay had been giving us a lot of sun shine and nice weather, nut it's cold in the mornings av evenings. And inside it's cold the whole day. In Sweden we warm up the houses as soon as it gets cold, here we put on a beanie and a jacket. Works well.

Alex och jag har börjat volontärjobba för Byron Bay rescue horses. Ett nystartat ställe som bara har funnits i lite mer än en månad. Det är en kvinna som heter Ava Dolan som startade och har hand om det. 30 000 - 40 000 hästar slaktas varje år i Australien. De slaktas för att bli hund/katt-mat och exporteras till andra länder för att ätas av människor. Det är inget fel på hästarna som slaktas och 60% av dem är under sju år gamla. Det finns folk som vill rädda de här hästarna och de får en vecka på sig innan hästen slaktas att försöka sälja den till ett 'rescue centre' eller hitta något annat hem till den. Så det är det Ava gör, hon köper hästar som är påväg in i slakten.
Hittills har hon köpt 11 hästar som var påväg att bli slaktade. Hon har redan sålt vidare två så just nu har hon 9 räddade hästar som hon tar hand om. Hon har hjälp av volontärer som mig och Alex, plus att hon ska starta insamling och söka sponsorer för hästfoder osv.

Alex and I have started volunteer working at Byron Bay rescue horses. It only started up a bit more than a month ago, by a woman named Ava Dolan. 30,000 to 40,000 horses are slaughtered each year in Australia. They are slaughtered for dog/cat food and exported to other countries for human food. There's nothing wrong with the horses that are slaughtered and 60% of them are under seven years old. There are people who want to save these horses and they get a week before the horse is slaughtered to try to sell it to a rescue center or find another home for it. So that's what Ava does, she buys horses that would otherwise be killed.
So far she has bought 11 horses that were about to be slaughtered. She has already sold two so now she has 9 rescued horses that she takes care of. She has the help of volunteers like me and Alex, plus she'll start fundraising and try to get sponsored for horse feed, etc.

Hästarna är supergosiga och fina! Vi ger dem mat, borstar dom och tvättar dom. Häromdagen satte vi upp ett nytt elstängsel. Bra att lära sig lite nya grejer.

The horses are so sweet and beautiful! We give them food, brush them and wash them. The other day we put up a new electric fence. Good to learn some new stuff.
