Yesterday we started the rescue diver course. It's fun and demanding. It is simply about being able to rescue other divers who become stressed or even worse -panics. We learn the best way to talk to a person in stress / panic and how to approach him / her and what is best to do in different situations depending on whether the person is unconscious or not, and if you're in the water or on surface.
Today we'll go through something they call "hell day". I do not know exactly what will happen but my guess is that when we are out with the boat people will splash around in the water to the left and right and up and down and call for help and we will have to decide what is best to do in every situation and act accordingly. I guess the hardest thing will be to at the same time be aware of the ones that do not call for help but are just lying unconscious and silent in the water.
Here's a photo that our instructor Petra Bauer took of us on our advanced course:

Piece of cake. Hehe
Just now there were two girls from the room next to us standing here outside crying and looking very upset. They talked with two guys and asked them to take out something from their room. One of the girls said, " It was in my bathingsuit , it was in my bathingsuit ." I assumed it was a cockroach or something . I sat and listened and when the guys found whatever it was inside the bathroom, one of the girls (who was also in there at the moment) came running out again " Aaaahhhhhh oh my gooooood!! " .
I thought it can't be a cockroach , there must be something worse. I asked the girls what it was and they said it was a huge spider. I asked if I could go in and look at it. They asked if I was Australian and I said I wasn't but that I've lived in Australia for a year.
I brought a big bottle of water which I had cut in two in order to have stuff in it ( in the bottom part of the bottle) .
In the bathroom the guys stood and tried to catch the spider with a broom ....
I caught the spider in the bottom part of the bottle and took it out . Piece of cake. Hehe
